Ruth Daniels Pierce, 87, of the 100 block of Parker's Ford Road, died Wednesday, March 8 2006, at Nansemond Pointe Convalescent Center, Suffolk, VA.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Alexander "Zan" and Temptie Ann Brinkley Daniels. The former owner and operator of Pierce's Grocery, she was a member of Parker's United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vernon Pierce; and her son, Joseph Vernon Pierce, Jr.
Surviving are her grandson, Jim Pierceof Raleigh; and five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeremy, Justin, Brittany and Brooke.
The funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at Parker's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Askew. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may join the family from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, at Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville and other times, at the home of Lucy Askew, Parker's Fork Road, Corapeake.
