He was born September 11, 1927 in Caney, Kansas to Alice and James Dancer. Jim was the oldest of four brothers, who remained best friends during their lifetime.
After serving in the Navy 1945, Jim attended Kansas State University. There, he achieved his Mechanical Engineering B.S. and met his future wife, Pat Davis. He began his engineering career with Cities Service Gas Co and retired as a Director for Williams Co in 1982.
Jim is survived by his wife, of 61 years, and their children and spouses; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-law, Neil Massey.
Jim was a voracious reader, sports enthusiast and world traveler. When not spending time with his family, he volunteered for his church, Oxley Nature Center, the Boy Scouts and Tulsa Public Schools.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 10:30 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Place, Tulsa Oklahoma 74105. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St John’s Episcopal Church.
