Helen Marie Cryer Danahay, 79, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, August 20, 1928, to Norris and Claudia Cryer. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Daniel Michael "Mike" Danahay, Jr. Helen was employed by the 14th Judicial District Clerk of Court for 15 years. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church, Sulphur, Louisiana and a past member of the Ladies Altar Society. Helen had a wonderful sense of humor and loved life to the fullest. Above all that she loved in this life, nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched so many and will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 60 years, Daniel Michael "Mike" Danahay, Jr.; four daughters, Catherine D. Rosteet and husband, Sidney, of Sulphur, Margaret D. "Peggy" Ducote and husband, Rodney of Sulphur, Ann D. Galbraith and husband, David of Houston, Texas and Kelly D. Taylor and husband, Bryan of Lake Charles; sons, Michael E. Danahay and wife, Daphne and Daniel Patrick Danahay and wife, Sophie, both of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Cryer and wife, Pam of Sulphur; sisters-in-law, Jane Kramer, of Chadham, Illinois and Patricia Bienvenue, of Port Neches, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Claudia Cryer and sister, Margaret (Bobbie) Hebert.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral mass with be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur on Tuesday, July 15 2008, at 11 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. and a scripture service will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery of Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
