Forever with the Lord.
Mrs. Mary Dana Anderson died at her home last Saturday evening after an illness of less than a day. She was the widow of William Anderson, Esq., so long and well known as a resident of Londonderry and of this town.
She was the eldest daughter of Rev. Dr. Daniel Dana of Newburyport and was born in 1801. From her childhood up, she has been in the centre of religious and educational circles, and her sterling qualities of character, her high intelligence, earnest piety and generous affections have made her long life a strong and gracious influence wherever she has been placed.
Whether dispensing the hospitalities of her own home, or entering upon the numerous activities of church and society, or giving counsel and comfort to those in sorrow, the love of her heart and the charm of her manner opened an easy way for her to the hearts of others.
"None knew her but to love her,
None named her, but to praise."
Though Mrs. Anderson had reached the great age of ninety five years and one month she kept to a rare degree her powers of body and mind. To the last, she took delight in reading and in the society of her friends and in the events of the day. The final illness of a half day gave way to a tranquil sleep, in which at the evening hour, her spirit passed gently from the earthly home to the final home of the redeemed in the world of light.
