Bakers Mills - The Rev. Daisy M Allen, 74, lifelong resident of Bakers Mills and longtime pastor of Sodom Community Church went to be with the Lord, Monday May 24, 1999, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

Born June 27, 1924, in Bakers Mills, Daisy was the daughter of the late John Dalaba and the Rev. Hester (Rist) Dalaba Capwill.

Daisy was educated in a one room schoolhouse in Bakers Mills and graduated from North Creek High School in 1942. She attended bible schooling in Union City, Pa. and was ordained in Bakers Mills as a Minister with the Pentecostal Holiness Association.

In 1944, at only 20 years old, Rev. Allen was instrumental in reopening and re-naming the Sodom Community Church where she has pastored until the present.

She married Earl L. Allen on Sept, 3, 1947, and the couple lived and raised their family in Bakers Mills.

In the early 1960's, Daisy formed the local 4-H chapter and was the leader for over 30 years. She also authored a book.

She was the director of Triumph Youth Camp in Bakers Mills and later became president of the Pentecostal Holiness Association.

In 1982, she traveled to Africa as a missionary and also ventured to many other cities in the US as a missionary. She was a member and held many offices with the Bakers Mills Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.

Her enjoyments included sugaring, camping and hiking with children.

She was predeceased by her sister, Violet Heath and her brother, Lynden Dalaba.

Survivors besides her husband of 52 years include her two children, Kjerstia Grimes and her husband, Archie of Lake George and Frederick L. Allen and his wife Ruth of Union Beach, NJ; her five sisters, Blossom Faulkner of North Creek, Pansy Allen and her husband Harold, Carnata Dalaba, and Fern Turner, all of Bakers Mills, and Rose Allen of Johnsburg; her brother, Rev. Oliver Dalaba of Green Lakes, Mich.; her step sister, Ona Dunkley of Bakers Mills; six grandchildren, Alonzo Conlon and his wife Nichole of Johnsburg, Fabiann Conlon and his companion Melanie Morehouse of Johnsburg, Keitan Millington and his wife Saraha of North Creek, Derek Millington and his wife Courtney of Bakers Mills, Keisha and Heather Barnak and her husband Richard of Union Beach, NJ; one step granddaughter, Danielle Grimes of Lake George; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Conlon, Shasti Conlon, Kora Millington and Dezore' Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday at Sodom Community Church with the Rev. Ronald Allen and Rev. Flossie Bates co-officiating.

Burial will follow at Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg.
