May 18, 1910, Stevens Point Gazette: Was Ill Two Years. Mrs. Nellie Dakins, wife of Louis Dakins of the town of Plover died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank McGown, east of Plover, at 11:49 Tuesday noon. The termination of an illness of about two years with tuberculosis. The deceased lady was 33 years, 6 months and 24 days old. Her maiden name was Nellie Welch and she is survived by her mother, husband, sister and two children, all of whom have the sympathy of many friends in their affliction. For some time she had been sleeping and living in a tent at the home of her sister, Mrs. McGown, with the hope that the fresh air treatment would ultimately restore her to health, but the dreaded white plague had already fastened itself upon her with an unrelenting grip. The funeral will take place from the M.E. church at Plover at 10 o'clock Thursday forenoon. With interment in Plover cemetery.
May 18, 1910 Stevens Point Daily, Pg. 1, Col. 3: Mrs. Louis L. Dakins – Death Occurs at the Home of Frank McGown of Plover. Mrs. Louis L. Dakins passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank McGown, in the town of Plover, Tuesday at 11:10 a.m. after an illness of about two years with tuberculosis. She has been steadily failing for some time and her death was not unexpected, although the deceased, herself, had hope for her recovery up to the very last. The deceased, whose maiden name was Nellie Welch, was born at Almena, Michigan, on Oct. 23, 1876. She came to Plover when she was a little girl and had resided there ever since. She leaves her husband and two sons, Guy and Raymond, aged 12 and 3 years respectively. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. W.S. Parsons of Plover, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie McGown. The deceased was a quiet unassuming woman whose interests were centered in her home and family. The funeral will be held Thursday with Rev. F.C. Zoerh officiating. There will be prayer at the McGown residence at 9 a.m. and public service at Plover church at 10 o-clock followed by interment in Plover cemetery. The Woman's Relief Corps of which the deceased was a member will conduct the service at the grave.
