Services for Elizabeth A. Dainton, age 89, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tom Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Dainton died early Saturday morning, September 2, 1989, at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born August 7, 1900, in Almena, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel and Isa Dora Altman. She moved to Wyoming in 1920 and homesteaded in northern Niobrara County. She met Wayne Dainton in 1933 and they were married on Christmas Eve, 1935. They settled on a place near Pine Ridge, South Dakota, in 1936, where they began ranching. Elizabeth taught school for several years and helped raise Wayne's son, Carl, from another marriage.
In 1942, they moved to Lance Creek where Wayne worked in the oil fields and Elizabeth continued teaching school. After 4 ½ years they moved to a small ranch 21 miles north of Lusk and remained there until Mrs. Dainton's death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Survivors include: her husband Wayne of Lusk; a niece Wanda B. Sorem of Rockport, Texas; a nephew Richard W. Boogaart of Orlando, Florida; and grand nieces and nephews.
For those who wish, memorials to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated by the family.
Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
