1942-2012 Barbara Estes Daily, 70, of Westminster, Colo. died peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and two children on Sunday, July 22 following a courageous and graceful battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease).
Barbara was born the daughter of Franklin and Lillian Estes in North Adams, in 1942. She graduated from Drury High School in 1960. She later attended the University of Maine and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Education/Psychology. Barbara was a staunch advocate for children and families for much of her career, bettering the lives of her community's youngest and most vulnerable members through advocacy and social work.
In 1995, Barbara heeded a call west and moved to Colorado. While there she immersed herself in organizational development and support, earning a certificate from the prestigious Gestalt Institute in Cleveland and working with the City of Longmont as the Training and Development Specialist. In 2002, she married the love of her life, Chris Daily. The two made their home together in Westminster. An adventurous, fit and fun-loving spirit, she found much joy and peace in exploring the canyons, rivers and mountains of the southwest via raft, kayak, foot, and most especially, bike. An inspiring accomplishment was her completion of the White Rim Trail in southwestern Utah, a 103-mile bike trip, at the age of 67.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Chris Daily; father, Franklin Estes of Westfield, Mass.; daughter Kim Daniels and her husband Mike of Denver, Colo.; son, Shaun Kelley and his wife Nancy of Bedford, N.H.; son Quinn Daily and his wife Sarah of Bend, Ore.; and daughter Andrea Trombley and her husband Bill of Carbondale, Colo.; grandchildren Katie and Christopher Daniels, J.C., Conner and Brennan Kelley, and Kila Daily; all of her beloved friends, her dog Molly, and her cats Boo Boo and Yogi.
