GRANGER - Rachael L. (Dahlstrom) Boswell, 81, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born in Texas to the late Louis and Harriet Dahlstrom. On August 7, 1977, she married Melvin "Bud" Boswell at a ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by a former husband, Marion Brant, two brothers and seven sisters. As a child, Rachael lived with her family at The City of David in Benton Harbor. She worked as a pattern folder at Simplicity Pattern for over 16 years. Rachael also worked as an oncology nurse at Memorial Hospital in South Bend for 20 years. She was also an active member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Bend. Rachael's retirement was filled with busy service to her church and community. As a volunteer, she delivered Meals on Wheels and flowers to patients at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. She loved gardening and square-dancing and was a member of the Sunshine Twirlers and the Chain Gang Square Dancing Clubs. Rachael was gifted in all sorts of crafts, including painting. Rachael is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Larry Griesmaier) Brant of Grand Rapids and Victoria Lovejoy of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Byron "Bud" (Vickie) Brant of Berrien Springs and Jon Brant of Niles; two stepsons, Ron (Kathryn) Boswell of Shell Knob, Missouri, and Jerry (Jan) Boswell of Chesterfield, Michigan; a stepdaughter, Teresa (Dave) Primmer of Mishawaka, Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held today, October 16, 2011, at Brown Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 51900 Mayflower Road in South Bend at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17th. Contributions may be made in Rachael's memory to The Foundation of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, 837 E. Cedar Street, Suite 350, South Bend, IN 46617.
