He was born August 19, 1931 in Fairchance, Pa. son of the late John Gilbert Dahlgren and Maple P. (Winaught) Dahlgren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Earl Dahlgren and son-in-law, Michael J. Houze.
He was in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954, stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois.
Cecil was the former owner and operator of the Darby-Humbert Lumber Company in Fairchance, Pa. and former member of the Pennsylvania Builders Association. He was a past member and President of the Smithfield Rotary Club, Smithfield State Bank Director and served as Secretary of the Board, a Mason of the Laurel Lodge No. 651 and Fairchance Borough Councilman.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairchance and former Deacon, Sunday School Superintendant and Sunday School Teacher of several classes.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Pauline K. Humbert Dahlgren; children: Debra A. Roderick and husband Clark, Daniel R. Dahlgren and wife Brenda and Beverly J. Houze all of Fairchance, Pa. and Becky L. Pegg and husband Richard of Uniontown, Pa.; grandchildren:Jessica, Janelle, Justin, Nicole, Lyman, Melissa and Richie; great-grandchildren: Koalie, Casey Mae, Brody, Nicholas and Alexandra; brother, Franklin D. Dahlgren, Uniontown, Pa. and sister, Ruth V. Hartman, Uniontown, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday from 4:00 9:00 p.m.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. with Rev. Dr. Scott Hoppe officiating.
