Leo Allen Drake, Obituary

DRAKE, COLONEL LEO United States Air Force, Retired

Leo Allen Drake, passed peacefully with family by his side, Thursday, March 30, 2006. He was born April 25, 1920, in North Platte, Neb.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service as a colonel and combat support group commander of Nellis Air Force Base in 1972. His honors included the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal with 10 oak leaf clusters, and the Army Commendation Medal.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne (Muffy); sister, Ina May Mace; daughters, Carolee Worley and Laura Bois; son, Thomas Allen; six grandchildren, Scott Worley, Todd and Michelle Bois, Stephen, Christine, and Jeffery Drake; great-grandson, Kaleb Allen Drake; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in private services.
