Born Jeannine D'Angelo in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she grew up in Linden, New Jersey, and relocated to Brooklyn after her marriage. She and her husband of forty-five years, Robert, moved to Staten Island in 1969, settling in Richmond.
Mrs. Chiusano worked for several years a certified care-giver for the elderly. In addition, she volunteered her time for many years at Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville, and taught religious education to children at St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Richmond.
A graduate of Linden High School, she was very involved with her class reunion committees, and the consecutive five-year anniversaries. At the fortieth reunion, "they called her the ‘class mom' and the name stuck," her family said.
Mrs. Chiusano loved flowers, enjoyed working in her large garden, and was a fan of country western music. Another one of her pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren.
"She would gladly do anything for anyone else, but never wanted anyone to do anything for her," said her husband Robert. "She was a very passionate person and chose her friends very carefully, and you were fortunate if you were in that circle."
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons Robert, Jr., Anthony, and John; a daughter, Theresa Minicucci; brother, Wayne D'Angelo; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church.
Arrangements include cremation.
