Arlene Lucille Bright was
born to Edna Grace (Messerschmidt)
Cuthbert and Irwin
"Obe" Cuthbert in a small
house in Sioux Rapids on June
19, 1921. She was baptized and
confirmed in the Methodist
Church in Sioux Rapids. She
attended Cornell School for a
few years and graduated from
the Sioux Rapids School in
1938, at the age of 16.
On June 30, 1940, Arlene was
united in marriage to Floyd
Earl Bright. This union was
blessed with three children:
Barbara, Beverly and Steven.
Arlene was employed at the
Highway Cafe and later at
Simonsen Iron Works, retiring
from there after 20 years. She
was also the custodian for the
Mediodist Church, a job she
loved for 20 years.
She enjoyed her church,
singing, dancing, playing cards,
and being with people. She was
active in Jolly Elders, Dinner
Date, Young At Heart, Merry
Widows and participated in
Babes for several years.
