A native of Glens Falls, Mrs. Cushing was the former Mary Sweeney. She had lived in Schenectady for the last 50 years. Her husband is a former Schenectady County GOP chairman and president of the Cushing Stone Co. She is also survived by a son, James E. Cushing Jr.; a daughter Mrs. Willard A. Terry and three grandchildren.

In 1963 the new Schoharie public library was given the name of the Mary Beatrice Cushing Memorial Library as a tribute to the late wife of James E. Cushing of Schenectady, owner of the Schoharie Stone Corp.
