TRAVERSE CITY — Doris Elaine Braden, 89, of Traverse City, passed gently into the arms of her Lord on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Doris was born in Traverse City on Feb. 21, 1919, the daughter of Lowell and Mable (Wealch) Curtiss. On March 1, 1937, in Traverse City, she married Elmer R. Braden; he preceded her in death in 1990.
Doris was an LPN, working at both Munson Hospital and the Medical Care Facility, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed growing roses, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She made a lot of her own clothing. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Doris is survived by one daughter, Catherine Lynn; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer R. Braden; daughter, Donna Braden; three brothers, Kenneth in infancy, Ohmer and Donald; and two sisters, Evelyn Horn and Vivian Norris.
Visitation will be held this evening, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home, with Rev. Devon Herrrell officiating. Burial will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at the Pavilions Maple Assisted Living for the wonderful care given to her.
Memorials may be given in her name to Traverse Bay United Methodist Church (formerly Asbury United Methodist Church).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
