Muriel Fay Curtis Brown passed away at her home in Halfway, Oregon, on October 13 2012 of natural causes. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 16 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Halfway Branch. Interment will be Tuesday, October 23 at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.

Muriel was born in 1920 in Mapleton Utah to her parents James and Susannah Rose (Snyder) Curtis. She was one of eight children, all of whom have pre-deceased her. She grew up on an eight-acre farm and attended public schools in Mapleton and Springville, Utah through the tenth grade.

Muriel worked a variety of jobs including, a grocery checker, a nanny, a cook for the railroad, and she also worked in a glove factory in California. Throughout her life she was known for her strong work ethic. She valued a clean well-organized home, loved to plant and care for flowers, helped with many landscaping projects, and believed in many life principles and values, which she passed on to her children. She always took great pride in her skills as a frugal and creative homemaker.

Muriel married June W. Brown in 1943 in Provo, Utah, where she lived 60 years in the same home in which she raised her family. She enjoyed art, music, reading, sewing, and sports. She was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed many domestic activities including knitting and crocheting. She loved to create many items that could be given away to friends and family. With her husband, June, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ballroom dancing.

She was an active member of the LDS church and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was known to all as a very positive and fun-loving person. She was a wonderful grandmother who supported her grandchildren in most of their activities.

She is survived by her two sons, Ross and wife Lynne Brown of Providence, Utah, and Philip and wife Gail Brown of Halfway, Oregon. She has 26 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
