Darlington was in Canadian County, 5 miles northwest of El Reno. The Cheyenne-Arapaho Indian Agency was established there in 1870. The first newspaper in [the] Oklahoma Territory, [the] Cheyenne Transporter was published there in 1879. A post office existed from April 2nd 1873 to July 31st 1918. The community was named for Brinton Darlington, [the] Quaker Indian Agent.
