Birth: Aug. 16, 1921
Spanish Fork
Utah County
Utah, USA
Death: Nov. 3, 2011

Mildred Leyshon Curtis 90, formally of Aberdeen, Idaho passed away the 3rd of November, 2011 peacefully at Brookstone Village in Nampa, Idaho, which had been her home for almost three years.

Mildred was born at home near Spanish Fork, Utah, on August 16, 1921. She was the daughter of Lorenzo Leyshon and Jennie May Warner. She was the oldest of six children. In the spring of 1924 she moved with her family to Aberdeen, Id which is where she was raised, educated and spent most of her life.

Mildred had a deep love and appreciation for her parents and siblings. In their early years they loved fishing and camping. These times together were some of her fondest memories of her family. (Dareld Leyshon, LaRue Schumacher, Yuvonne Edmonds, Jay Leyshon and Della Taillet).

Mildred met Nelson Amos Mitchell while he was employed by her parents on the family farm. They were married December the 24, 1938 and they made their home in Aberdeen.

They were blessed with four wonderful children: Blaine J. Mitchell (Shirley), Rockland, ID, Ruby Standifird, Payson, AZ, Shirleen Pierce (George), Caldwell, ID, and Lenore Short (Floyd), Middleton, ID.

In 1950 they were divorced and Mildred went to work in a potato warehouse to help support her children. She worked for many years in the potato industry and became a Federal and State potato inspector.

She married Lynn Chandler on December 13, 1952. Lynn loved Mildred and her four children and worked hard to help provide for them. Due to a serious head injury, the marriage was dissolved in June 1956.

Max Curtis moved to Aberdeen while employed for an Engineer Company and during this time met Mildred and they courted, feel in love and were married December 26, 1958. Mildred gained another child from this union, her step son Bob.

They enjoyed dancing and were often seen boot scooting around the living room. Vacations were far and few between but fishing and camping with friends and family were among their favorite. When fall came, hunting was the first thing on their agenda, packing to leave for the Rockland valley to be with Blaine and Shirley.

Mildred loved her vegetable and flower garden, teaching her children to also love working in their yards and canning the produce they grow. Neighbors were a very important part to her and many became life time friends. She also enjoyed sewing in her younger years and made cloths for her children. She loved arranging flowers, making many for special occasions.

Mildred is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed going to the temple. Visiting teaching was something she looked forward to each month and always went the extra mile. She was active in this assignment until three years ago when her health would no longer permit her to continue.

One of the most important things she will be remembered for is the way she taught her children to love one another. She had a special love for the 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two siblings: Dareld and Della; two sons: Blaine Mitchell and Bob Curtis; granddaughter, Shanna Standifird; and many other family members and friends.

A viewing will be held in Middleton LDS Church November 10th at 6 pm (1749 Willis Rd). Funeral services will be in Aberdeen, Idaho November 12th at the LDS Church. There will be a viewing at 1 pm prior to services starting at 2 pm. Following the services she will be buried in the Aberdeen Cemetery.

The family has placed their trust in Flahiff Funeral of Nampa and Davis-Rose Mortuary, American Falls, Idaho.
