Homedale: Alfred H. Curtis, 74, of Homedale, died Friday, Mar 20, 1987 at home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wed. Mar 25, at the Homedale LDS church. John Cossel will officiate under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Homedale, burial will be in the Marsing-homedale cemetery.
Mr. Curtis, a farmer and rancher, was born Aug 21, 1912 at Boise. His family moved from Placerville to Givens Springs in 1919. where he was raised. He attended Givens Springs Elementrary school, and graduated from Melba High school in 1931. Following graduation he worked for several years on sheep and cattle ranches befor he took up farming on his own in 1936. He married Anna Mary Johnston on Oct. 9, 1928, at Nampa. They farmed in the Melba area until 1941. They moved to Homedale in 1954 where they had resided until his death.
He was a charter member of the Owyhee county Sheriff's posse; an active member of the stateline grange; Owyhee county Rodeo Board; and the Owyhee county cattlemen's association.
Al was an authentic western man who was deeply rooted in the land of Owyhee county. His life-style exemplified his love of nature and animals, especially of horses that he raised, trained and rode.
Survivors include his wife of Homedale; four sons, kelly Curtis of Davis, Ca; Craig Curtis of Nampa; and Kent and Rocky Curtis, both of Homedale; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Gary Evans of Hermiston, Or:A sister, Catherine Moore of Ephrata, Wa; three grandchildren; and numerous neices and nephews. Two brothers and a sister died earlier.
