MERIDAN - Services for William E. "Bill" Curtis, 84, of Route 2, Meridian, Ida., who died Tuesday, May 2, 1972, at his home, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Robison Chapel of the Chimes, Meridian, by the Rev. Charles W. Easley. Interment will be at the Meridian Cemetery with rites by Meridian Lodge No.47, AF&AM.

Mr. Curtis was born May 7, 1887, at Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He came to Nampa on Nov. 1, 1887 and moved to Meridian with his family in 1889.

They then moved to a farm which is now the site of the new St. Alphonsus Hospital, in 1892. He attended Cole School and Boise High School. Then he worked for the Union Feed and Fuel Co. and married Lillie Maud Kendall, July 20, 1921, in Emmett. They lived in Boise prior to moving to the present farm in Meridian in 1925. He had lived there since, raising livestock.

He attended, the Meridian United Methodist Church and taught a Sunday School class as well as sang in the choir. He was a member of Meridian Lodge No. 47, AF&AM for more than 50 years and had been chaplain for the past 27 years. He was also a member Scottish Rite Bodies in Boise, Boise Eagles Lodge, Lloyd Hutcheson Post of the American Legion in Meridian and the Meridian Barracks Veterans of World War I. He served in France during World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie; a son, William K. Curtis of Meridian; two daughters, Miriam E. Barr of Meridian and Mrs. Marguerite J. Scott of Littleton, Colo.; three brothers, Stanley Curtis of Boise, Walter Curtis of Springfield, Ohio, and Joseph Curtis of Pueblo, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Durham of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Harold C. (Clara) Finch of Boise, and Mrs. Nell G. Burrows of Whitebird, Ida.; and four grandchildren.

Two brothers, George H. Curtis and Fred Curtis and a sister preceded him in death.
