Roland Curtin, Sr. was the son of Augustine and Mary O'Loughlin) Curtin. His 1st wife was Margery (Gregg) Curtin. They were married November 25, 1800 and she died January 15, 1813. His 2nd wife was Jane (Gregg) Curtin. He was an ironmaster. He was the father of Pennsyvania Governor Andrew Gregg Curtin.
--He was "educated in Paris, France, where he narrowly escaped the guillotine during the Reign of Terror." He arrived in Philadelphia in 1793, settled in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania and in 1799 moved to Bellefonte.
