Elizabeth O'Brien Curtin, 82, of Fort Mill, S.C., formerly of Lake Wylie, S.C., Bellefonte, and Curtin, died at home. Born in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late William T. O' Brien and Ruth Gamble O'Brien. She married Hugh Laird "Bud" Curtin Jr., in 1944, in Bellefonte. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1987. she was also preceded in death by a brother, William Thomas "Tom" O'Brien Jr. A 1940 graduate of Bellefonte High School, she studied library science at Millersville College, now Millersville University. After her marriage, Mrs. Curtin lived in Curtin for 43 years, then in Bellefonte until she moved to South Carolina 10 years ago. In Bellefonte she worked for The Community Chest, now the United Way, and for a short time for Family Health Services, then later for MidState Bank, retiring in 1977. She was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Bellefonte. An antiques collectors, she and her husband enjoyed furnishing the family home in Curtin with period pieces. The Curtin home was a haven for her five children, grandchildren, and many visiting nieces and nephews and a gathering place for her many friends. An avid card player, Mrs. Curtin was a member of several bridge clubs in Bellefonte and in Lake Wylie. She is survived by three daughters, Constance, "Connie" A. Curtin, of Fort Mills, S.C., Eliza C. Turner and her husband, Frederick, of West Chester, and Katherine C. Drelick, and her husband, Larry, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Hugh Laird Curtin III and his wife, Cathy and William O. Curtin, both of Clover, S.C. Also surviving are five grandsons, David M. Jones, of Los Angeles, Michael C. Jones, of Charlotte, N.C., Frederick F. Turner, of Baltimore, and Hugh Laird Curtin IV and William O. Curtin Jr., both of Clover, S.C. Nine granddaughters also survive: Elizabeth C. Jones, of Bethesda, Md., Suzanne T. Fuller, of Exton, Ann C. Drelick and Jennifer L. Drelick, of Charlotte, N.C., and Ashley L. Curtin, Jessica T. Curtin, Katherine E. Curtin, Trisha M. Curtin and Katelyn E. Curtin, all of Clover, S.C. Two great-grandsons, Tyler J. Fuller, of Exton and Owen M. Jones, of Charlotte, N.C., also survive her.
