Michael Eugene "Mike" Curl, 50, of Madison, died at 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at the Quality Inn in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born June 14, 1961, in Madison, the son of James E. Sr. and Dorothy B. Ferguson Curl. He was raised in Crothersville and was a 1979 graduate of Crothersville High School. He later lived in Seymour before moving to Madison. He worked for 20 years for Force Construction as a superintendent. He had recently become employed by Riverside Construction, working as a carpenter and superintendent until his sudden death. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 1775 in Columbus. He was a member of the Sons of the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969 and Jefferson Post 9 Sons of the American Legion. He was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Crothersville and later attended the Wirt Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, NASCAR and telling jokes.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa D. Griffin Curl, whom he married Aug. 1, 2001; one daughter, Lindsay Renee Curl of Madison; four sisters, Barbara Wilson of Scottsburg, Cathy Blair of Brownstown, Cindy Wesley of Seymour and Sheila Bruno of Indianapolis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James E. Curl, who died in October 2001; his first wife, Darla Wehner Curl, whom he married June 11, 1994, and who died Jan. 21, 2007; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.
