KENDALLVILLE - Bonnie Lu Curie, Age 83, of Kendallville died on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.
Ms. Curie was born in St. Joe, Indiana, on July 1, 1929, to Grover C. Curie and Lodeama (Ridgway) Curie.
She graduated from Wolcottville High School in 1947. Ms. Curie worked at Swartzlander's Jewelry store in Kendallville for 41 years, retiring in 1988.
From 1942 to 1990, she was a member of the Kendallville First Christian Church serving as the church's first woman Elder. In 1990, she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville where she served as an Elder, Deacon and the treasurer of the church. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, the Rebekah Lodge serving as the Noble Grand and the Kendallville Business and Professional Women for 31 years.
Survivors include one sister, Helen F. Thomas of Rome City and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Keith Curie and Kent Curie; and three sisters, Thelma Blalock, Romayne Curie and Katy Emerick.
A Gathering of Friends will be Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home. Burial will be at River Side Cemetery in St. Joe. Preferred memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Noble County Humane Society.
