Birth: Sep. 19, 1913
Death: Feb. 23, 2008

Bula Ballew won her battle with the horrible disease, Alzheimer's, on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. She escaped its grasp, and went home to be in a better place.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Kenny Cunningham officiating. Visitation: Family and friends will gather 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd.
Bula was born on Sept. 19, 1913, to Fred and Bertha Cunningham. She later met and married Denver S. Ballew and had three children. In 1948, Bula and her family moved to what would become her "Beloved Grapevine." Bula had a simple but valuable code of ethics--love of God, family, friends and, of course, Grapevine.
She worked for and retired from Texas Instruments. All three of her children attended and graduated from Grapevine High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Grapevine, which she attended until her health prevented her from doing so. Her most precious moments were the holidays, being with her family and friends.
A special thanks goes to all those people--too many to name--who helped Bula through her last days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver S. Bellew; her son, Denver F. Ballew; and her precious cat, "Little Folks."
Survivors: Daughters, Virginia Sue Ballew Hobbs of Bedford and Carolyn Ballew of Haltom City; brother, Alvin "Woody" Cunningham and wife, Ozell; sister, Goldie Hawk; grandchildren, Harold Hobbs, Shirley Hobbs, David Hobbs and wife, Kathy, Cindy Griffin and husband, Gary, Brad Ballew, Beverly Miller and husband, Keith, and Beth Morphew; great-grandchildren, Cory and Colby Spencer, Tony and Tyler Hobbs, Jason Morphew, Christoper, Matthew and Krista Miller; nine nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she had her "girls," Betty Wagner of Colleyville, Margie Burns of Hurst and Mary Jane Spencer of Hurst.
