CHARLESTON - The funeral for Myrtle L. Bennett was Friday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Finney officiating. Burial was in the Hurricane Cemetery in rural Charleston.

Organist Valerie Gibson played "In The Garden," "Beyond The Sunset," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone."

Pallbearers were Terry Gray, Jack Howard, Jonathon Eastin, Brent Gray, Don Bennett and Ray Winnett.

Mrs. Bennett, 90, of Charleston died June 14, 2009, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Deceased Name: Myrtle L. Bennett

CHARLESTON - Myrtle L. Bennett, 90, of Charleston, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at SBLHC.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Finney officiating. Interment will follow in Hurricane Cemetery, rural Charleston. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.

Myrtle was born January 10, 1919 in Sanford, Indiana, daughter of Samuel and Bessie (Rice) Cunningham. She married Elmo Bennett, August 24, 1942 at St. Charles, MO; he preceded her in death September 30, 2001.

Survivors include 4 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as three brothers: Les Cunningham of Bloomington, IL, Ed Cunningham of California, and Ron Cunningham of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, five brothers, and four sisters.

Myrtle was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of Salisbury Church - Hutton Campus.
