Mrs. Emma Cunningham Nolsch, daughter of George W. and Maria Lindsay Cunningham died August 9 at 9:20 p.m. at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Illinois after a period of illness which had its beginning last February. Through all her illness she bore her suffering with unfaltering courage and was ever cheerful and uncomplaining.

She was born July 13, 1857, three miles east of Virginia on the old Cunningham Homestead and spent her entire life of 71 years on the same farm.

February 14, 1878, she was united in marriage to Frederick A. Nolsch who preceded her in death 31 years ago. To this union eight children were born, Mrs. Mary Ellen Ester, died in October 1919 and Charles Lewis Nolsch February 1913. Surviving are Mrs. Eva C. Kirchner of Chandlerville, IL., Mrs Kennethina Perry of Clayton, Il., Mrs Josephine Henderson of Azusa, California, George Roy, James A. and Herald E. Nolsch of Virginia, Il., also twenty-five grandchildren.

Forty-five years ago she united with the Christian Church and was a member of that organization at the time of her death. She chose as her work for the Master that of humble service in her home and among her neighbors and friends. She was ever kind, helpful and loving to all. There was no task too difficult if she could serve her friends and loved ones.

Her place is vacant and can never be filled but the memory of her life and deeds of service will ever be held in reverence in the hearts of her friends and loved ones.

At 2:00 p.m., August 12 a large company of friends and reletives gathered at her late home for the funeral services conducted by Reverand Mr. Nelson of the Methodist church, who spoke very tenderly of her life as a mohter, a true neighbor. He took for his text the words spoken by Paul, "For Me to Die is Gain" and very fittingly showed how it was gain for Mrs. Nolsch to die.

During the services Mrs. King and Mrs. Erickson sang "Nearer My God to Thee", "In the Sweet By and By" and "Abide With Me" all favorite songs of Mrs. Nolsch.

The large crowd in attendance at the service and the beautiful floral offerings were proof that she indeed was loved by her friends and neighbors.

She was laid beside her husband in Walnut Ridge Cemetery to await the final call for the deat to rise.
