MUNCIE--Muncie resident Betty E. Elliott, 90, died Tuesday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Elliott, who was born in West Virginia, lived most of her life in Muncie. She owned the first Dairy Queen franchise in Delaware County, which is now known as Betty's Hum-Dinger Drive In on South Walnut Street. She was a member of American Legion Post 19 Auxiliary and Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond (Gerie) McCord (wife-Marilyn Jo), Lewis D. Elliott, and Virgil Elliott (wife-Billie); two daughters, Mary Fowler and Sharla Elliott; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John L. Elliott, is deceased.
Memorial services were Friday in Parson Mortuary. The body was cremated. Memorials may be sent to any charity.
