CUNAGIN, HERBERT E., 73, husband of Phyllis Jones Cunagin, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was born January 29, 1934 in Peoples, KY, graduated in 1954 from Annville Institute, Annville, KY, and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Cunagin had retired from Liberty Bank in Louisville and the physical plant department of U of K. He also worked for Andy Frain Security and UK Athletic Association. Before his illness he was an avid golfer, hunter, and occasional fisherman. He had a deep love for anything UK. Other survivors left to celebrate his life include a son, J. Timothy (Diane) Cunagin; a daughter, Karen Cunagin (Tim) Sypher, all of Louisville; a stepson, Stephen Simonds of Florida; 13 grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Kaleb, Quade Wise, Annabelle Sypher, Ryan Duley, Lillian, Daniel, Christian Cunagin all of Louisville, Tyler, Bryant, Kennedy Simonds and Loren Pritchett, all of Florida; two sisters, Jeannette Ponder of Tennessee, and Dolores Hardy of Louisville; and four brothers, Danny Cunagin, Bobbie Norton, Jim Cunagin, all of Louisville, and Isaac Cunagin of Arkansas. Funeral services will be at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Whitehall Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jim Closterman. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the funeral home, with a private graveside service on Monday.
