Charles W. Culver was born October 30, 1857, in Dane county, Wisconsin, and died at San Francisco, California, July 17, 1939, at the age of 81 years, eight months and 17 days.
In the spring of 1878, Mr. Culver came to Boone county, Nebraska, homesteading a quarter section 12 miles north of Albion. This he sold a few years later and bought a 116 acre tract southeast of town which was his home for many years before moving to Albion to spend his declining years.
He was married on December 24, 1885 to Miss Sarah R. Williamson, who had come to Boone county in 1874 from Delaware county, Iowa. Two pairs of twin boys were born to them, one of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Culver passed away July 28, 1938 at her home in Albion. It was after her death that Mr. Culver went to California to make his home with his sons, Vern and Warren.
Mr. Culver was a member of the Congregational church in Albion and all during his residence here was faithful in attendance upon all of the services of the church. He was a good citizen and the highest sense of that term and a devoted husband and father.
Left to mourn his passing are his three sons, Vere of Port Washington, Long Island; Vern A. of San Francisco, California and Warren of Sacramento, California; a brother, Fred Culver of Albion; and a host of friends.
Vern Culver of San Francisco accompanied his father's body here and spent until Friday morning with Albion relatives and friends.
