Bernice S. Culp, resident of San Jose, Mar. 14, 1914-April 13, 2010. Passed away April 13, 2010 at the age of 96. She lived her entire life in San Jose, a graduate of San Jose High School. She was married to Donald Delaney until his death in 1967 and had two children Jerry and Louise. Bernice Delaney Culp comes from a family with much history in California. Many of the old timers from this area will remember Stokes Tamale Parlor, which was in existence for 54 years and belonged to her mother and her family. Another ancestor Don Juan Bautista Alvarado was the first Governor of California from 1839-1842. The Stokes Home in Monterey was a Historic Museum and tourist stop. Bernice and two sisters, Lottie & Adeline played soft ball in the mid 1930's for National Shoe Company. They won 44 straight games in a row to win the California State Championship in 1936. Bernice was inducted into the California Softball Hall of Fame in 1987. After retiring from Stokes Tamale Parlor she worked for Meadow Gold Milk Company for another 21 years. A native daughter of the Golden West, Vendom Parlor 100 for more than 50 years and Woman of the Moose Organization. She loved playing baseball, tennis, darts, bowling and cards. She also loved her many dogs. She was preceded in death by daughter Louise Rifredi and is survived by son Jerry Delaney (Alice) of San Juan Bautista, Grandchildren Kristen Enes (Mark), Shelly Wallen (David), Richard Rifredi (Cassi), Kim Rifredi, Rod Rifredi, Sister Carmy Demartini and eight great grandchildren Lillian, Abigail, Camille, Violet, Reese, Royce, Adriana and Ryan. Visitation & Viewing will be at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel 710 Willow Street San Jose on Monday April 19th from 7-8:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Martin of Tours Church 300 O'Connor Dr., San Jose on Tuesday, April 20th at 10:AM. Interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2655 Madden Ave., San Jose.
