Ms Cartrett was a native of Geneva, Alabama and a resident of Gulfport since 1932. For the past five years, she had resided in Natchez with her daughter.
Our mother was a loving Christian mother who lived her life according to Proverbs 31. She loved her family and church and inspired others to do the same.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport. Some of her involvements with the church were secretary for Primary 3, co-hostess for the Wednesday night suppers and a member of the senior adult Sunday school, fellowship, choir and craft class.
She had enjoyed several trips with the First Baptist Church Senior Group.
Ms. Cartrett was an avid sports spectator, especially football.
She also enjoyed watching game shows and working word puzzles. She was a very talented seamstress.
She took much pride and delight in, and gave much love to, her grandchildren and great-grandson. We were blessed to be her children, family and friends.
Ms. Cartrett was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Cartrett; her parents, Luther and Ruth Cullifer; her brothers, Luther Jr., Johnny and Sidney Cullifer; her sister, Jean Davis and Modelle Cruthirds; her son-in-law, Joe Craddock; and her grandson, Rodney Persons.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Persons and her husband, Forest, both of Natchez, and Carolyn Craddock of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Ellen Rodriguez and Lynette Randazzo, both of Gulfport; a sister-in-law, Nettie Poole of Gulfport; five grandchildren, Diane Forrest and her husband, Dave, both of Natchez, Mary Craddock of Berlin, Germany, Joanne Craddock of Dallas and Sarah and Rachel Craddock, both of Austin, Texas; and one great-grandson, Jason McCoy of Natchez.
