Shreveport, LA Services for Doris Culbertson, 88, will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015, 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. John Higginbotham and Rev. Bill Blakely. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2 until 3 PM before the service.
Doris was born 1926 and grew up in Arcadia, LA. She was lovingly called "Sweet Pea" by her husband of 66 years, Burwell David Culbertson. She graduated from Louisiana Tech and retired as a Caddo Parish school teacher. A big smile and encouraging word were always offered to anyone in her presence. She loved the Lord and served her church, Mangum Memorial Methodist Church, faithfully. One of her dreams was to travel the world. Her husband, Dave, fulfilled that dream. She enjoyed playing games, the outdoors and spending time with family.
Doris is survived by her husband of 66 years, Burwell David Culbertson; four children, David (Julie), Donna (Hugh), Dianna (Lavone), and Don (Karen). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
The family wishes a special thanks to caregivers, Selena Harrison, Tenesha Moore, Ernestine Williams, and the staff of The Cottages at the Glenn.
