Bill Crump and Connie Crump
1926-2013 | 1944-2013
GOWER, Mo. - Bill and Connie Crump, of Gower, passed away on January 24 and 21.
Connie passed in the hospital with her children by her side the evening of January 21. After nearly 50 years together and a stated desire not to live without one another, Bill followed her in death the morning of January 24, at Gower Convalescent Center, also comforted by his children.
Bill was born February 1, 1926, to Fithian Keith and Elva Marie (Johnston) Crump, in St. Joseph. He worked many interesting jobs from his first, shoe delivery, to tobacco farming, and wrought iron installation. After graduating business school, he moved to Rose Hill, Kan., to start a farm with his former wife, Gladys and seven children while also beginning his career in aircraft manufacturing.
Bill had a lively sense of humor and a love of the outdoors which he shared with Connie when they met and married in the late 1960s.
Connie was born October 27, 1944, to Emil Edwin and Jane Louise (Fales) Bazer, in Omaha, Neb. She had immeasurable love and devotion in her care for the elderly. She was a devoted homemaker, for a time a business woman, sometimes a waitress, and later an equally devoted nursing home aide. This love was inspired by her beloved grandparents, whose memory was a lifelong comfort.
Together they lived in the country home they shared with their son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, and beloved dogs.
They lived in Missouri, Texas, and California, and raised three children together.
They were sadly preceded in death by their son, Daniel Edwin Crump; and grandsons/step-grandsons, David Taylor Stewart and Terry Allen Crump.
They are survived by their children/stepchildren, Bobby Krow, Wanda Stewart, Jay Crump, Cindy Goddard, BJ McGuire, Joe Crump, Billy Crump, Crystal Simmon and Marc Crump; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; friends and family.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday April 6, at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
They would be happy for flowers, plants, or donations of soft lap blankets to go to Gower Convalescent Center, 323 U.S. 169, Gower, Mo., 64454.
