Viola was one of ten children born to Robert E. Crump and Rosa May Reinhold who married on 2 Dec. 1902 in Winamac, Indiana. Viola's siblings were Alvin L. (b.1905), Hilda E. (b.1907), Edna M. (b.1910), Lyman D. (b.1913), Opal M. (b.1919), Leonard (b.1917), Chester (b.1919), Rosemary (b.1924) and John R. (b.1926). I found the family on the 1910 Census, living in Franklin, Pulaski Co., Indiana, where Viola's father was farming for a living. By the 1920 Census, the family had moved to Union Twp. (today the Culver/Argos area), Marshall Co., Indiana, and Robert was a taxi driver for a livery.
When I caught up with Viola on the 1930 Census, she was a student nurse at Epworth Hospital, a mental health facility in South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. The next year, she married William E. Alcock on 4 Aug. 1931 in Adams Co., Indiana. I found them on the 1940 Census, living in Lapeer, Lapeer Co., Michigan, where William was working as a salesman in a retail department store, and Viola was a nurse in an "institute for the feeble minded". They were living with William's divorced sister Helen Burck. They had two children as of that census--John W. (b.1938 IN) and Sally A. (b.1946 MI).
Viola died in 2003 at age 95.
