ERNEST CRUMB TO BE BURIED HERE TUESDAY, Veteran Lumberman Died Yesterday.
Funeral services for Ernest V. Crumb, who died Sunday morning at 12:15 o'clock, will be held here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Interment will be in West Side cemetery. Mr. Crumb's health had been failing for two years. An operation was resorted to last January in an effort to halt the progress of his ailment, but to no avail. His death was attributed to uremic poisoning. For 33 years a resident of Rockford and for many years active in this city's business life, Mr. Crumb gained a wide acquaintance.
He was born in Tully, New York, February 24, 1861, and seventeen years later went to Chicago. He was connected with the Hannah, Lay & Co. lumber firm there until 1888 when he came here as a member of the B.L. Crumb Company retail lumber concern, of which his father was senior partner.
He is survived by the widow, Mary O. Palmer, to whom he was married April 25, 1888 at Sterling, Illinois; a daughter Mrs. George Tullock and a son Burritt L. Crumb of this city. He also leaves his mother, B.L. Crumb, two grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Gene C. Bristol of Oak Park, Mrs. Frank Regan of this city, and Mrs. Robert Dailey of Pontiac, Michigan.
