George Henry Crowther was a first generation American. His parents; Edwin Heber Crowther (1841-1907) and Lydia Seamons (1841-1861) were from England. After arriving in Utah Geroge's parents started home and family in Box Elder County which now hosts the town of Brigham City. The entire town was designed by Lorenzo Snow under the guidance of Brigham Young. This was to become a town that would become a Co-operative. In simple words; what ever your vocation, what ever you gleaned from that vocation, you were expected to share with the community. Be it cattle, crops, weaving, sewing, dairy products, etc. it would shared with your neighbors. They built city buildings, a church and school.

George's childhood was full of activities. He learned the value of hard work. The Co-Op maintained a high level of success until the late 1870s when a series of disasters occurred. Crop failure due to drought and definite loss due to GRASSHOPPERS. At the same time their woolen mill burned to the ground. The combined losses were so great after 1878 only the town store was able to stay in operation. The people of Brigham City "pulled themselves up by their boot straps" and by 1895, they were on their way as a community.

In 1890 George married Sarah Ann Page (1873-1901). They had five children. However, only the three girls survived to adulthood. Listed below are all of their names and ages. But for now, we need to talk about the love and marriage of George and Sarah. After their marriage they moved to Salt Lake City, Where George began working for the railroad. Like all young couples during that time, they worked hard, built a home, paid their debts and planned for a future. Their first child arrived...Ellen Geneva Crowther 1892-1967. Then came Maybelle Crowther 1894-1979 and
Nora Crowther~Juhlin 1895-1969.
In 1898 there was an infant born and died the same day. Not much is known about the cause.
On March 23rd, 1901 George Horatio Crowther was born. Due to complications during child birth both Sarah Anne Page~Crowther and George Horatio Crowther did not survive.

Later, widower George Henry Crowther married Emina (Minnie) Catherine Allen. She was 35 years old. They had five children and were together until George passed away at age 67.

When additional research has been completed, the children of his second marriage will be added.
