Madelyn Crowley Althen, 91, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Douglas Althen, passed away Thursday, (November 3, 2011) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born February 13, 1920 in Hartford, daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine (Sullivan) Crowley, she lived in Windsor many years before moving to Windsor Locks 56 years ago. Madelyn graduated from John Fitch High School in 1938, she worked 25 years for Travelers Insurance Co. before retiring. She was one of the original members of St. Robert-Bellarmine Church, Windsor Locks, was very active in the parish and was the first president of the Women's Club. Madelyn had a strong commitment to God, country and family; her passion was her family and she took great pride in her Irish heritage. This was evidenced by her love for Notre Dame Football, St. Patrick's Day and "wearingof the green"...Burial will be in Windsor Veteran's Cemetery...
