Lucy graduated from McAlester High School, attended San Jose State College in California and then Oklahoma University. She married H. L. Childers on March 1, 1922. He preceded her in death in January 1979. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the U.P.W. She was active in United Church Women of McAlester, Chapter A. T., P.E.O. and Phi Beta Phi Sorority. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, James R. and Patricia Childers of McAlester; three granddaughters and their husbands, Gail and Jerry Burrow of Muskogee, Peggy and Rory Whittle of Tampa, Fla. and Elizabeth and Bruce Snider of Broken Arrow; six great grandchildren; an aunt, Isa F. Dodd of McAlester; a sister in law, Alice Crowl and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Friday, March 27, 1992 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Stringer officiating.
