Ruth Ella Caron was the daughter of Lucius A. Crowell, born in Conn., and Ella J. Smith, born in Vermont. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut on July 6, 1883.

In July 1960, at the age of 77 years, she applied for admission to the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil as the widow of William A. Caron, a veteran of the Spanish American War. They had married on Dec. 28, 1911 at Hartford, Connecticut and were together until his death on September 1, 1953. They had one son, William E. Caron, of Seattle.

Mrs. Caron declared she was receiving a $65 widow's pension on Certificate No. C2,329,594, $32 civil service retirement, and $57.80 for social security. She offered to donate the $14 per month that was over the income limitations for entry into the Home.

She passed away June 10, 1963, after having lived at the home since January 5, 1961. She was 79 years old.

Mrs. Ruth Caron -
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.. Friday in Washington Veterans home for Mrs. Ruth Ella Caron, 79, a resident of the home since 1961. She died there Monday after a several months' illness.

Mrs. Caron was born July 6, 1883, in Middletown, Conn. She was married to William A. Caron Dec. 28, 1911, in Hartford, Conn. The couple moved to Seattle in 1922. Mr. Caron died there in 1953.

For many years the couple managed apartment houses in Seattle until retirement in 1948. In Seattle she was a member of Forteson Thygesen camp 2, United Spanish War Veterans auxiliary.

Officiating at Friday's funeral will be Chaplain John Hall, with the servie under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist funeral home.

Mrs. Caron is survived by a son, William E. of Seattle; a brother, Tracy M. Crowell of Middletown, and a granddaughter.
