Born in Madison County and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Crowder was the daughter of the late Garland and Ethie Bell Stines Rathbone. She retired from the VAMC in Asheville, and loved listening to gospel music and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Eldridge Peek and Edward C. Crowder; and sister, Lila Virginia Rathbone Harris.
Surviving are children: Brenda Pierce and husband Charles of Alpharetta, GA, Terry Peek and wife Marlene of Asheville, and Cheryl Fisher and husband Josh of Weaverville; step-children: Deborah, Paul, Sharon and Carolyn Crowder of Asheville; grandchildren: Brandon, Kaitlyn and Gavin Fisher; brothers: Herman Rathbone and wife Hester and Paul Rathbone, all of Acworth, GA, and Jerry Rathbone and wife Myra of Ranburne, AL; brother-in-law, Robert Harris of Barnardsville; sister, Lucille Rathbone Sanders and husband Robert of Calhoun, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Dean Metcalf officiating.
