Many years ago, according to the Etowah Valley Historical Society, "he was buried at Chickamauga". This can be interpreted as perhaps the Chattanooga National Cemetery or Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Parks, or the Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery. He was among the many soldiers and sympathizers buried in this general area toward the end of the War in unmarked graves. We know he is there but it is impossible to determine the precise grave in the precise cemetery. According to the "1864 Census for Re-Organizing the Georgia Militia", he was a resident of Bartow County, Georgia and was born about 1810 in South Carolina. This is consistent with all known family information. The "Official Records of The Union and Confederate Armies, 1861-1865" (pages 391-392) appears to confirm William Crow's arrest by Federal Agents. He may not have been an active soldier, but rather, provided food and assistance to the CSA. My second great grandfather was married twice: First to Nancy Harriett Clardy (1821-1855). They were parents to Margaret Ann, Samantha Jane, John F., Martha Jane, William Pickens, Mary Francis, Adaline and Calvin Jones Crow. After the death of Nancy, he Married Susan Elizabeth McEver (1826-1907), and they were parents to Laura A, Hattie, Abbie and Linton Clifton Crow. Today, there are many William Crow descendants living in several states throughout America.
