"Lititz (PA) Record, Fri., Aug. 17, 1906, p. 3:
Mrs. Joseph Baer -
The death of Mrs. Joseph Baer, formerly of Lancaster, occurred Wednesday of last week at the home of her son James Carpenter, at Rothsville. Death resulted from a complication of diseases. Deceased was seventy-nine years old and she lived at Rothsville for the past ten years, but prior to that time had lived in Lancaster, her second husband, Joseph Baer, having conducted a restaurant on North Queen street for a number of years. The deceased is survived by one son, James Carpenter."
"Additional Information: When Mary Ann Baer applied for widows benefits after her husband's death, the considerable file includes additional information about her. In particular it states that she was raised in the Ephrata area and had one child by Michael Carpenter, to whom she was never married. Carpenter left the area, and she moved to Lancaster where she was married to William Jones on November 22, 1847, by Rev. Baker, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Jones was killed May 7, 1853, by being run over by railroad cars.
On August 25, 1861, Mary Ann Jones was married to Joseph "Bair" at Lancaster, Pa., by Rev. Jacob Reinhold, Pastor of the German Baptist Brethren Church."
