David G. Cross M.D., 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his residence in Indianapolis.
He was born on August 18, 1928 in Deal, PN, to the late George and Margaret (Shockey) Cross.
A 1950 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and 1954 graduate of University of Pittsburgh Medical School, he served as a captain & medical doctor in the US Air Force.
David was an Emergency Room Physician at St. Vincent, Community East, and Community North hospitals for 18 years.
He practiced family medicine on the southside of Indianapolis for 18 years as well.
He was a charter member of American College of Emergency Physicians, Marion County Medical Society and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was a member of Franklin Road Church of Christ. He held a private pilot license, enjoyed vegetable and rose gardening, trap and skeet shooting and was also an avid reader.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Norma (Payne) Cross; devoted children, Kim (David) Hamilton, George (Debra) Cross, Karen C. (Lee) Hamilton, and Kathy (Steven) Golten; two step-children, Linda (David) Raber and Gregory Livingston; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, and from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East.
