LIFELONG LINN COUNTY RESIDENT DIES SATURDAY
Mrs. Mary May Allen, 74, widow of E. F. Allen, and life-long resident of Linn county, died at Mercy hospital, Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7:25 a.m. following a long illness.
Mary May Cronk, youngest daughter of James T. and Amy Kramer Cronk, pioneer residents of Robins, was born October 21, 1877, at Robins. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1900, to Orra Willson Sherman, who preceded her in death in 1911. To this union was born one son, Emery Sherman. On August 16, 1915, she was united in marriage to Eugene F. Allen and he passed away Nov. 17, 1947. Mrs. Allen joined the Marion Seven Day Adventist church when a child, and lately attended the Robins church. She was an active member of the Robins Ladies Aid and a charter member of the Art Club.
She is survived by her son, Emery; two step-daughters, Mrs. Leita Domer of Marion, and Mrs. Mable Wheeler of Nortonville, Kan., 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Flora Howe of Foley, Minn.
A short prayer service was held at the home followed by funeral services at the Turner Chapel in Cedar Rapids Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Alton Wheeler of Battle Creek, Mich., assisted by Ben F. Buckingham of Prairie City. Interment was in the Mentzer Cemetery at Robins.

She married Orra Willson (some records erroneously say William O.) Sherman 25 Nov 1900 in Marion, Linn, Iowa; and later married Gene Allen.
