Anne Allen Crockett, 70, of Louisville, died Sunday at Baptist Hospital East. Miss Crockett was a native of Maysville, KY, and was a retired executive director for guidance and school administration in the Jefferson County Public School System, where she exercised great influence over the teachers and counselors in the county. Before that position, she was a teacher at Waggener High School, a counselor at Ballard High School and was named Kentucky Teacher of the Year in 1967. "Her great talent, generosity and innate kindness carried into the classroom through the lives of hundreds of former students." She was educated at Maysville High School, earned a Master's Degree at the University of Kentucky, was a Fellow at U of K and also attended Columbia, Purdue and Vanderbilt universities. After retirement, she became an active and well-known breeder of dauchshunds, was recognized nationally for advancing the quality of the breed and served as a president and board member of Louisville Dauchshund Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waller Allen and Lide Chenault Crockett. Survivors include one brother, John R. Crockett; a sister-in-law, Lona Price Crockett; one sister, Lida Crockett Snyder; four nephews, Ralph D. Case of Williamstown, NJ, Henry R. Snyder, John R. Crockett III and Thomas P. Crockett, all of Louisville. She was a much loved great-aunt of Wesley Allen Case, Samuel E. Crockett, Henry H. Crockett, Thomas C. Crockett and Ann Chenault Crockett. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Ave., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Pear-son's, 149 Breckenridge Ln. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of gifts to the Christian Education Dept. for Children at her church or to the University of Kentucky, Office of Development, Sturgill Building, Lexington, KY 40506-0015.
