Carol Jean Barks died on July 30, 2011, in Tulelake, Calif. She was 62 years old.
She was born to Russell and Betty Crites in Smith River, Calif., on Nov. 30, 1948.
Carol's family meant the world to her and she treasured the time she spent with them. Music was a large part of her life and she especially enjoyed listening and recording her family members as they played and sang.
She met her husband, Clyde Barks, in Brookings, Ore., and they married in 1993. She was a devoted housewife and spent much of her time and energy as a loving caregiver to friends and family members. She loved nature and enjoyed camping and fishing. She had a special place in her heart for animals and loved feeding the wild birds at her Tulelake home.
Carol is survived by her husband Clyde of Tulelake; son Brian and wife Laurie Queener of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother Darrel and wife Sue Crites and sisters and spouses Jerrie and Mick O'Sheedy and Brenda and Ron Parsons, all of Cottage Grove, Ore.; grandchildren Brice, Chyann, Breann and Rayann, all of Colorado Springs, Jack Kerttula of Cottage Grove and Eric Barks of Tulelake. She is also survived by her husband's parents Bill and Gladia Barks and sister-in-law Charlotte Barks, all of Tulelake. She had one great-grandchild, Gracie May Kerttula. In addition, she leaves behind many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Denny Kerttula, infant children Steven and Cindy and brother Wayne Crites.
A service will be held in Cottage Grove at a later date and interment will be at Smith River Cemetery.
Carol touched the lives of many with her tender ways and will be missed by all who knew her.
