Mrs. Jacob Collins
Minnie Charlotte Critchfield, was born near Simpson, Kansas, October 4, 1883 and died at her home in Glasco, Kansas, January 18, 1931, aged 47years, 3 months and 4 days.
Minnie was one of a large family from whom fate saw fit to take the mother in early childhood, which meant worlds of hard knocks for the little ones, of which she received a goodly share.
In 1906 she was united in marriage to William Cain of Junction City, Kansas. To this union was born two children, one died in infancy. The father, William Cain, was next to follow in death, he having died during the great "flu" epidemic in 1918. Shortly after the passing of her husband, Mrs. Cain suffered the loss of sight and spent the remainder of her life in utter darkness.
Mrs. Cain and little son Robert moved to Glasco, Kansas and on June 21, 1919 was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob Collins. She and Mr. Collins have since made their home in Glasco. Mrs. Collins' son Robert was taken from her in 1927, caused by a horse falling on him. This was a terrible blow to Mrs. Collins from which she never fully recovered.
She leaves to mourn her death: her husband, Mr. Jacob Collins, two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Mackey of Filer, Idaho; Mrs. Amanda Clark of Denver, Colorado; her nephew, Mr. Noble Critchfield and family of Glasco, Kansas; John Critchfield of Asherville, Kansas; Buenna Woodard, Denver, Colorado; Tony Richards, Carney, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church in Simpson, conducted by Rev. J.A. Templin. Interment was in Simpson cemetery.
