Ellen Lee Cripe Shonkwiler Winter, 83, of Lafayette, formerly of Attica, died at 4:07 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Raub, Indiana to the late Abe and Dollie Hankins Cripe.
She married John C. Shonkwiler in Williamsport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1965.
She married Paul R. Winter on Aug. 3, 1985, in West Lafayette. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Lee Ann Hilt and Lea Lynn Shonkwiler (fiancé: Joe Tidrick), both of Lafayette; a son, John C. Shonkwiler (Sherry) of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Sharon Blake of Valparaiso and Shelley Hawk (Ken) of Lafayette; a stepson, David A. Winter (Desiree) of Otterbein, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, 6 stepgrandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 stepgreat-grandchildren.
