Ruby was born on March 29, 1912 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Nora (Wamsher) Lee. She married Jesse F. Wilson on June 29, 1929 in Crown Point. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1970. She then married Denzil L. Cripe on April 29, 1973 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2002.
Ruby worked as a telephone operator and clerk for Indiana Bell from April 1951 until retiring in May 1974. She was a member of Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church in Danville, Illinois and served in the Farmers Chapel Missionary Ladies Club. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3318; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 125; Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles 2596; Business & Professional Women's Club; American War Mothers and the Telephone Pioneers, all of Attica.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Jean Pruitt, Kay Whistler and Anne (David) Morgan; a son, William Ray (Ruth) Wilson; a stepdaughter, Wanna Spounias; three stepsons, Terry (Linda) Cripe, Larry (Nancy) Cripe and Darrell Cripe; a sister, Fannie Buck; three brothers, Hershall Lee, Jack Lee and David Lee; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wilson and seven brothers and sisters.
